Fill out the consent form and have the patient sign it. Do not sign it yourself. A study team member will sign the form later.
Complete the pain severity questions with the patient (attached to the consent form).
After you have completed the consent form and baseline pain questions, fill out the enrollment information (link above).
Send Dr. Kingery a text notifying him that you enrolled a patient.
Prescribe the standardized pain medication regimen for the patient.
Patients with a closed, isolated humeral shaft fracture
Open fractures
Polytrauma
Patient or attending preference to acutely fix operatively
Current malignancy or concern for pathologic fracture
